On Saturday, June 9, 2007, volunteers arrived at the boat launch. We cleaned near the bridge on Brookside Road and then along East Sheffield Road. The Great Barrington Conservation Agent, Elaine Hines, had a plan for the morning. And BEAT and HVA brought some supplies. There were coffee and donut holes to fuel the work. Ben was the master at hauling stuff up the bank and then on to the piles. There was plenty of stuff to haul over the course of the day.
There was a stove embedded
Bringing the stove up the bank piece by piece
stove all out
There was a stove, half buried in the river, at the bottom of a very steep bank. These three tugged and dug to finally get the entire stove out of the river. The stove came up in pieces, along with lots of other garbage.
