Small, secretive, and nocturnal, Northern Saw-whet Owls (Aegolius acadicus) are one of the most common – and most elusive – owls in Northern forests. In the fall of 2022, the Harris Center established a saw-whet banding station on SuperSanctuary lands as part of an international research effort to better understand their fall migration. Join lead bander Hillary Siener to recap the first two seasons of the Harris Center’s saw-whet migration monitoring project, and to learn more about this charismatic bird of prey.
