On Trees: A Conversation with Peter Wohlleben, Jessica J. Lee, and Sumana Roy

January 11, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Tuesday, January 11th @ 1:00 p.m.

The Forest School at the Yale School of the Environment and OrionMagazine are pleased to announce that we are continuing the conversation we began with “Celebrating Old Growth.” We present a second event in this series called “On Trees.”

This event will feature a conversation between Peter Wohlleben(The Hidden Life of Trees), Jessica J. Lee (Two Trees Make a Forest), and Sumana Roy(How I Became a Tree), three authors whose work embodies the language of trees.

Registration is Required. Register Here.

Wohlleben’s Hidden Life of Trees illuminates the discreet social network of forests; Lee’s Two Trees Make a Forest finds history in the canopy; and Roy’s How I Became a Tree finds the shadows of branches throughout literature and philosophy. Together, they will discuss cultural constructs of forests and how disconnected those are from the growing reality of monoculture. Moderating the event is Mary Evelyn Tucker, co-author of Journey of the Universe, co-founder and co-director of Yale’s Forum on Religion and Ecology, and lecturer at the Yale School of the Environment and Yale Divinity School.
