Local Geology and disappearing Streams

Local geology and disappearing streams, Field Farm Geology Hike
The Williamstown of today—its rocky mountain tops, deep valleys, and its layers of sediment and soil—are the result of geological processes acting over time periods from centuries to thousands of millions of years. Come join Mark Brandriss (Smith College Geosciences, Emeritus) on a walk along the Field Farm trails to talk about why Greylock is so high, what the mountains are made of, how the caves formed, why they are in a valley, where the dirt below our feet came from, and more!
Field Farm, meet at the Sloan Road parking area. Heavy rain cancels.
