Housatonic Heritage Walks

Explore with knowledgeable & local historians, naturalists, and environmentalists at sites within the Housatonic River Valley: tours of historic buildings and town centers, hikes on the Appalachian Trail and other trails, walks through industrial heritage sites, a canoe paddling trip on the Housatonic River, bike rides on old country roads that have a history, behind-the-scenes tours at performing arts venues, and strolls through formal gardens and estates. All ages & all people are invited to join us!

10:00–11:30 AM: Charles Finney Homestead
10:00 AM–12:00 PM: Hike the Cliff Loop Trail and Visit the Chinkapin Oak
10:00 AM–12:00 PM: Forest Ecology and Tree Identification
10:00 AM–1:00 PM: Shaker Mountain Hike
10:00 AM–2:00 PM: Tours of the Beckley Blast Furnace
1:00–2:00 PM: Scientific and Indigenous Knowledge at the Institute for American Indian Studies
1:00–3:00 PM: Guided Tour of the Ellen Battell Stoeckel Estate
2:00–4:30 PM: The Weather Prophet of Beartown, Levi Beebe

The Housatonic Heritage Walks are a partnership between the Upper Housatonic Valley National Heritage Area, the numerous heritage organizations in the Upper Housatonic River Valley, the Berkshire Visitors Bureau, and the National Park Service.
