Housatonic Heritage Walks

Explore with knowledgeable & local historians, naturalists, and environmentalists at sites within the Housatonic River Valley: tours of historic buildings and town centers, hikes on the Appalachian Trail and other trails, walks through industrial heritage sites, a canoe paddling trip on the Housatonic River, bike rides on old country roads that have a history, behind-the-scenes tours at performing arts venues, and strolls through formal gardens and estates. All ages & all people are invited to join us!

10:00 AM–12:00 PM: A Walk Into the Past at Steepletop Reserve
10:00 AM–12:30 PM: Plant, Tree, and Wild Edible Hike at Tamarack Hollow Nature & Cultural Center
10:00 AM–1:00 PM: Bicycle Tour Around Pittsfield’s African American History Trail
1:00 PM–2:00 PM: A Pleasant Stroll Over Laurel Hill Park and the Mary Flynn Trail
1:30–3:30 PM: Tree Identification at Springside Park
3:00–4:30 PM: Explore the Impressive Gardens and Landscape of The Mount, Home of Edith Wharton
4:30–5:30 PM: Ancestors to Descendants, an Adamah Farm Walk
5:30–7:00 PM: Boreal Forest Ecology Slideshow & Summit

The Housatonic Heritage Walks are a partnership between the Upper Housatonic Valley National Heritage Area, the numerous heritage organizations in the Upper Housatonic River Valley, the Berkshire Visitors Bureau, and the National Park Service.
