Hemlock Monitoring Group Meet-up
February 11 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
First meeting! Eastern hemlocks are a vital part of our landscape but are under threat from pests like hemlock woolly adelgid. Join Williamstown Rural Lands on as they begin a community science survey of hemlock health on local public properties. Learn about eastern hemlocks and their role in the ecosystem, how to identify their pests, and how to survey for hemlock woolly adelgid in a regional monitoring initiative. No experience necessary!
Meet at Margaret Lindley Park for a walk out to Hemlock Brook (~0.5 miles one way, flat trail). For registration and more information, call 413-458-2494, or email programs@rurallands.org.
For more information, check out the New York State Hemlock Initiative who are extending their reach into Massachusetts with Williamstown Rural Lands!
Details of volunteer schedule are coming soon!
