Celebrating Earth Day Through Community Environmental Work
April 22, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Friday, April 22 @ 1:00 — 2: 00 PM
This Earth Day, join the Environmental Law Institute (ELI) for a webinar focusing on community environmental work. Environmental issues across the globe are rising, so the need is higher than ever for community work. Communities often need assistance from attorneys and scientists to yield results in courts, in front of agencies, on sustainable development projects, and to sway public opinion. How can lawyers and scientists get involved with and support community environmental work?
Join Scott Badenoch and Dr. Raj Pandya to discuss community environmental work generally and their work with communities in need. They will offer advice on how to get started in this type of work and how to build important skills, such as listening, having cultural humility, and respecting community knowledge and agency.
Scott is the founder of ELI’s Pro Bono Clearinghouse, which connects attorneys and communities to solve pressing environmental problems. Dr. Pandya is the Director of AGU’s Thriving Earth Exchange, which helps volunteer scientists and community leaders work together to use science to advance community priorities related to sustainability, resilience, disaster risk reduction, and environmental justice.

Arielle V. King, Environmental Justice Staff Attorney, Environmental Law Institute, Moderator
