Bird Walk at Sheep Hill
May 29, 2022 @ 7:30 am - 9:00 am
Sunday, May 29 at 7:30 AM
Williamstown Rural Lands is hosting an early morning bird walk on Sunday, May 29th. Join birder Tommy Richey at 7:30 am to identify and greet your feathered friends, many who have come from afar! Former Audubon chapter president and local Tommy Richey will guide you by sound and sight to meet migratory birds taking up spring residency on the hill, such as Indigo Buntings, Eastern Kingbirds, Yellow Warblers, Baltimore Orioles, and Ruby-throated Hummingbirds. Please bring water, snacks if you’d like, and wear sturdy shoes. If you have binoculars, please bring them; we’ll have a few loaner pairs if you don’t.
Heavy rain cancels the event so check the website the evening before. The guided bird walk is free to the public. Space is limited, and registration is required at https://rurallands.org/events/bird-walk-on-the-hill/
Tommy Richey is a Williamstown resident and the former president of the New Hope Audubon Society chapter of Audubon North Carolina. A lifelong enthusiast of the outdoors, Tommy got into birding by wondering “What’s that?” Identifying one bird after another led to an enduring passion for learning about and protecting birds and the habitats that sustain them.
Williamstown Rural Lands is a member-supported land conservation center that offers children’s and adults’ environmental programs, guided hikes, and other educational events for members and the public. The center is located at Sheep Hill, 671 Cold Spring Road, Williamstown, MA.
