Williamstown Geological History Walk at Field Farm
October 15, 2023 @ 11:00 am
Local geology and disappearing streams
The Williamstown of today—its rocky mountain tops, deep valleys, and its layers of sediment and soil—are the result of geological processes acting over time periods from centuries to thousands of millions of years. Join Rónadh Cox (Williams Geosciences) and Mark Brandriss (Smith College Geology, Emeritus) on a walk along the Field Farm trails to talk about why Greylock is so high, what the mountains are made of, how the caves formed, why they are in a valley, where the dirt below our feet came from, and more!
Meet at the Sloan Road parking area. Heavy rain cancels.
DATE: Sunday, October 15
TIME: 11:00 AM
LOCATION: The Guest House at Field Farm, 554 Sloan Road, Williamstown, MA 01267
