2024 Housatonic Heritage Walks

Explore with knowledgeable & local historians, naturalists, and environmentalists at sites within the Housatonic River Valley: tours of historic buildings and town centers, hikes on the Appalachian Trail and other trails, walks through industrial heritage sites, a canoe paddling trip on the Housatonic River, bike rides on old country roads that have a history, behind-the-scenes tours at performing arts venues, and strolls through formal gardens and estates. All ages & all people are invited to join us!

10:30 AM–12:00 PM: BEHIND THE SCENES TOUR OF TANGLEWOOD–BOSTON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA’S SUMMER HOME (Lenox, MA)
11:00 AM–12:00 PM: CANNON AT 20 PACES! THE RISE AND FALL OF THE AMES IRON WORKS (Salisbury, CT)
1:00–3:00 PM: THE HISTORY OF INDIAN TOWN, STOCKBRIDGE (Stockbridge, MA)
1:00–4:00 PM: CHESTER AND BECKET RAILROAD, THE GRANITE LINE (Chester, MA)
1:30–4:00 PM: WALK THE SHAYS REBELLION SECTION OF THE APPALACHIAN TRAIL (Sheffield, MA)

The Housatonic Heritage Walks are a partnership between the Upper Housatonic Valley National Heritage Area, the numerous heritage organizations in the Upper Housatonic River Valley, the Berkshire Eagle, Berkshire Bank, and the National Park Service.
