10 x 10 Festival: Winter Tree Identification Walk
February 24 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Many find trying to identify a tree during winter to be a daunting endeavor. With the absence of leaves, flowers, and fruit, it can appear as though there are no distinguishable characteristics to help with identification. But this is far from true!
Join Berkshire Environmental Action Team naturalist and tree enthusiast Chelsey Simmons to explore the buds, twigs, and bark of common trees seen in our New England landscape. Learn how to identify trees and shrubs throughout all the seasons at Pittsfield’s Hebert Arboretum in Springside Park.
This walk will be stop-and-go and outside the entire time. Please bring water, wear sturdy shoes, and dress in layers. Space is limited to 10 participants. RSVP to receive information on where to meet. Contact chelsey@thebeatnews.org or call (413) 464-9402.
DATE: Saturday, February 24
TIME: 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
LOCATION: Springside Park, 874 North St, Pittsfield, MA 01201
This walk is part of the 10×10 Upstreet Arts Festival, a winter arts festival located in Pittsfield’s Upstreet Cultural District in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, organized by the City of Pittsfield and Barrington Stage Company.
