Dr. David Carpenter Speaks On PCB Health Risks
Dr. David Carpenter of the University at Albany, who has extensively researched the health effects of PCBs, spoke to an audience in Great Barrington on the evening of March 1. Dr. Carpenter focused on the threat of airborne PCBs and what this might mean for residents living near the river and its floodplain. He also discussed the specific health risks (e.g., cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, neurobehavioral disorders) associated with PCBs. The presentation was made possible by the Housatonic Rivier Initiative (HRI) and was videotaped by Berkshire Environmental Action Team (BEAT).
