How To Submit Comments To EPA
EPA is currently accepting comments regarding the cleanup of the Housatonic River south of the confluence of the West Branch and the East Branch in Pittsfield.
In 2008, GE submitted its suggestions to EPA in the form of a document called the Corrective Measures Study (CMS). EPA reviewed this document and based on its analysis and with consideration of comments from other regulatory agencies and the public, returned the CMS to GE citing over 150 inadequacies that needed to be addressed.
In October 2010, GE submitted a revised CMS. EPA is now reviewing that document and is again requesting public input in the form of comments. This public comment period is very important. EPA does read every public comment and does in fact take them very seriously. If you have an opinion on this important matter, you should let EPA know.
