April 24 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Walks on Stone Hill: Beyond the Cows and the Art with Williamstown Rural Lands
Distance: 2 miles
Difficulty: Easier
Hike Leader: Cosmo Catalano
Come explore the other trails on Stone Hill, in the wooded area beyond the iconic pasture and fancy fences.
This is a family and first-timer friendly hike/walk on the main routes in the Stone Hill trail network beyond the Clark Art Institute campus — but we will not ignore the famous panoramic views of Williamstown and the surrounding hills.
The route will cover the full range of hiking/walking opportunities available in the area, so some folks might find short sections somewhat challenging for 15 minutes or so, but most of the route will be on old roadbeds and fairly flat. On most of the route the trail tread will have some uneven surfaces (the route is unpaved) and there will be some muddy/wet places and tree roots to walk over from time to time. If you are a bit unsteady on your feet, consider bringing a walking stick or hiking poles.
Pace will be slow, with stops to chat and catch breath. In all, cover about 2 miles of the trail network and expect to spend about an hour and half in the woods and fields. There are “bail out” options that offer a more direct path back to the starting point if your time is limited.
Meet at the Lunder Center parking lot at 4:30 p.m. (see map below). A heavy rain forecast will cancel this trip, light showers will not deter us.
