Ecological Restoration for Resilient Landscapes

October 17 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Did you know we’re now living in the Decade of Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030), as coined by the United Nations? Organizations all over the world – including Mass Audubon – are planning and doing ecological restoration projects. But what does that mean?

Join Alex Hackman, Director of Ecological Restoration, and learn about the concepts, underlying science, and practical approach to this work. Discuss the Tidmarsh Wildlife Sanctuary in Plymouth, MA as a case study, and describe the process of restoring streams and wetlands on this former commercial cranberry bog. In addition, learn about current Mass Audubon projects (dam removals, salt marshes, urban wetlands, and cranberry bogs) and the to streamline permitting, secure funding, and build an engine to grow this work in Massachusetts.

This program is part of a monthly series for Mass Audubon’s Climate and Nature Champions. All are welcome to join and learn more! Register here
