Observing Moths at Night: Lightsheeting Demo with Matthew Rymkiewicz at Berkshire Biodiversity Day
September 13 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Join Matthew Rymkiewicz for a demo on mothing—using a light to look for moths at night—at the 15th Berkshire Biodiversity Day (aka Berkshire BioBlitz). This demonstration is an excellent opportunity for people to experience one of the surveying techniques used to get an understanding of some of the moths and other arthropods that are nearby.
There will be sheet rigs lit up with lights to attract moths and other cool insects. As they gather, we’ll take a closer look at them to identify who is who and keep a tally for the 24-hour biodiversity survey.
This demo is one of many activities happening during this year’s Berkshire Biodiversity Day that’s taking place on September 13–14, from noon to noon, on the Berkshire Community College campus. In addition to the expert-led walks, there will be presentations and demonstrations led by experts, all of which are free and open to the public.
