Mist Netting + Bird Banding Demo with Berkshire Bird Observatory at Berkshire Biodiversity Day
September 14 @ 7:00 am - 10:00 am
Join Ben Nickley of Berkshire Bird Observatory (BBO) for an early morning mist-netting demonstration during the 15th Berkshire Biodiversity Day (aka Berkshire BioBlitz). This demonstration is an excellent opportunity for people to experience some of the biodiversity surveying methods used to monitor birds. Ben will go through the banding process, which entails putting an identification ring around the birds’ legs (sometimes referred to as banding), before sending them back on their way.
This demo is one of many activities happening during this year’s Berkshire Biodiversity Day that’s taking place on September 13–14, from noon to noon, on the Berkshire Community College campus. In addition to the expert-led walks, there will be presentations and demonstrations led by experts, all of which are free and open to the public.
