Community Read: Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer

February 7 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Join Berkshire Botanical Garden and the Stockbridge Library for an engaging “community read” on Robin Wall Kimmerer’s book “Braiding Sweetgrass.” A discussion will be held in person at the Stockbridge Library on Wednesday, Feb. 7, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Community reads are an opportunity for the community to read the same book within a period of time and then get together to discuss it.

Kimmerer, a botanist and member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, describes the book as “an invitation to celebrate the gifts of the earth.”

“When we’re looking at things we cherish falling apart,” says Kimmerer, “when inequities and injustices are so apparent, people are looking for another way that we can be living. We need interdependence rather than independence, and Indigenous knowledge has a message of valuing connection, especially to the humble.”

Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, a lover of indigenous wisdom or simply curious about sustainable living, this discussion promises to be insightful and inspiring. Note: Books will be available to borrow from Stockbridge Library. BBG also has a copy in their library, in the Center House.

No registration required.
