Housatonic Heritage Walks

Explore with knowledgeable & local historians, naturalists, and environmentalists at sites within the Housatonic River Valley: tours of historic buildings and town centers, hikes on the Appalachian Trail and other trails, walks through industrial heritage sites, a canoe paddling trip on the Housatonic River, bike rides on old country roads that have a history, behind-the-scenes tours at performing arts venues, and strolls through formal gardens and estates. All ages & all people are invited to join us!
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 30
9:00–11:00 AM: Human Ecology at the Mount, Edith Wharton’s Woods, Wetlands, and Meadows
9:30 AM–1:30 PM: Hike Up Cobble Mountain at Macedonia State Park
10:00 AM–12:00 PM: Hike Sharon Land Trust’s Newest Public Reserve, the Von Ahn Preserve
11:00 AM–12:30 PM: Architecture and Landscape at Herman Melville’s Arrowhead
11:00 AM–1:00 PM: Explore the Perennial Plants of Pfeiffer Arboretum
1:00–2:00 PM: Guided Walking Tour of Historic Falls Village

The Housatonic Heritage Walks are a partnership between the Upper Housatonic Valley National Heritage Area, the numerous heritage organizations in the Upper Housatonic River Valley, the Berkshire Visitors Bureau, and the National Park Service.
