Join the City of Pittsfield’s Parks & Recreation Department for a community Arbor Day celebration on Friday, April 28, at Springside Park.

The event will begin at noon with a tree planting and keynote address by Martha Lyon, ASLA of Martha Lyon Landscape Architecture, LLC. The event will also celebrate the City’s long relationship with the Conway School of Landscape Design.

At 1:00 PM, the ceremony will move to the Chestnut Seed Orchard within the interior of the park, where representatives from the local chapter of the American Chestnut Foundation will give an overview and an update on the chestnut reforestation project.

Immediately following the presentation at the orchard, participants are invited to go on a short trail hike led by Berkshire Natural Resources Council (BNRC) or a tree identification walk led by Berkshire Environmental Action Team (BEAT).
