Fight for Better Buildings in MA
March 1, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Tuesday, March 1st @ 7:00 p.m. via Zoom
Rep. Tami Gouveia will be joining this Mass Climate Action Network (MCAN) event co-hosted with the MA Chapter of the Sierra Club.
Rep. Gouveia has been a strong champion for equitable decarbonization of our buildings and led on the net zero stretch code provision in the Next Generation Roadmap bill passed by Gov Baker last March.
There will be a town-hall-style Q&A with Rep. Gouveia about what we can do to fight for better buildings in our communities and the Commonwealth.
Mr. Roy Harvey, an energy consultant and advocate, will provide an overview of the state’s draft specialized code and outline areas we must strengthen so it becomes a proper net zero stretch code.
You can review what DOER has presented here.
You can register for the March 1st event here.
Remember, you can take action by using our toolkit to:
– Register for the event MCAN is co-hosting with Sierra Club – MA that will give you an overview of where we need to push for a true net zero stretch code
– Sign this letter that will be sent to DOER, making clear our demands and asking for their leadership to address the climate crisis
– Give spoken comments at an upcoming DOER community meeting
– Use MCAN’s sample comments to submit written and give spoken comments of your own at an upcoming DOER meeting
-Be a virtual advocate and tweet! Check out our sample tweets. We will be adding to this part of the toolkit over the next few days.
A true net zero stretch code will transform our buildings from polluters to protectors of our health, our economy, and the environment. But we must act now!
