  Aerial view of Muddy Pond Muddy Pond, on the Hinsdale/Washington border, is considered the farthest reach of the Housatonic River. The view here is from the north, looking south. The railroad tracks are on the west side of the pond. A smaller pong is visible just west of the railroad tracks. Water flows from Muddy Pond at the southeast end, then turns to flow north to where it crosses Bullards Crossing Road in Hinsdale.
