BEAT’s first thoughts are that this appears to be a fossil-fueled, mostly peaking power plant, in a community already overburdened by air pollution. The facility should be shut down and replaced with storage and the community should receive additional help to insulate, weatherize, become more efficient, solarize, and switch to heat pumps for heating and cooling.

Tennessee Gas Pipeline 261 Upgrade Projects – Agawam – BEAT is watching this project closely. This project has now filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). BEAT/No Fracked Gas in Mass has filed for intervener status in the FERC process. We believe the increase in greenhouse gas emissions that would result from this project would violate the state’s Global Warming Solutions Act statutory limits. Please visit our NoFrackedGasInMass.com website for more information.
